Does it cost anything to get a consult?
For the very first consult, which usually takes n more than 30minutes where we discuss the basics of the project, like the type of room, size general style choices plus arrange a date and time for the full consultation etc there is no cost! This consult just gives us a starting point for the rest of the project.
Where do you source your second hand items from?
If your looking to do a budget friendly design project than I’ll endeavour to source as savvy as possible from a multitude of different places, including ; Second hand charity shops, Facebook Marketplace, online auctions etc. I’m always hunting for the best products at excellent prices, sometimes that requires a bit more effort, but the end result you get without breaking the bank is incredibly rewarding.
Do you work with larger budgets or antiques?
Yes! If you have that extra budget to play with and your interested in collecting some heritage pieces, looking to decorate with period correct items or just love anything antique, I can definitely help you create the space of your dreams.
Can you product source a space with new products?
Yes! The most important thing we do is sourcing our products responsibly, so we can absolutely source new but we find companies or small businesses that have the same guidelines. Which means you end up with some really amazing pieces from indie businesses, local artisans, as well as larger corporations working towards a more sustainable future.
If you don’t source new, how do you get the products that I like or follow my mood board?
Even when shopping new it can be very difficult to find items that are 100% the same as items in a mood board, however it’s normally quiet surprising how many things you can find that are so close to the original inspiration, as I’ve always said, interior designing with second hand items is finding items that are “different words but in the same font”. You might not get that exact piece, but you will receive something that’s very similar and sometimes even better that the original ideas.
What about second hand items that are not perfect?
I think character is the best thing with second hand items, of course you want all electronics to work safely, no excessive wear and tear, and all the pieces to be in the jigsaw puzzle. But a few healthy scratches on the kids wooden toys gives these items a story. Anything that needs a refirb I will do for you, I also clean everything before it comes to you, and avoid things that are not of high quality materials. For example, sourcing quality hardwood second hand furniture item over a second hand IKEA or Kmart piece.
How long does a job take?
This varies depending on the project, however for general reference, keeping in mind that the days are usually not consecutive, a small kids room can be as quick as 3 days working time if it doesn’t require paint, which usually ends up being a week or more the room isn’t able to be in use. The reason the days aren’t generally consecutive is due to opening times of stores, wait times for paint to cure on refurbishment jobs etc.
A multi room job is usually around a month, however there a lot of factors that can affect time frame, all of which we can go over in a consult for the project.
What if I have no idea what aesthetic I’m looking for?
That’s perfectly fine! That’s what I’m here to help with, if you have no idea what you like or the direction you want to go, I’ll run you through plenty of examples until we figure out what you’re drawn to.
Do you paint, remodel, remove walls etc?
As we are a small family run business, I do a lot of the small handy work myself, such as paint, changing light fixtures etc, which saves a lot of money for you guys! However we will need to source a contractor to do larger remodelling jobs such as changing electrical, knocking down walls, painting large spaces/high ceilings, flooring etc, therefore the budget will have to compensate hiring contractors, however you won’t have to worry about organising or communicating with them, I work behind the scenes doing all that for you.
Are any jobs to small of a job?
There isn’t! If you have a space and already own 80% of the items you want in there, but your just not sure what to do with it, I can come in for just a single day to a couple of days to help you out.
